Who Buys a Jim’s Mowing Franchise?
There is no single profile. Jim’s Mowing franchisees come from all kinds of backgrounds. What they have in common is a preference for working outdoors, running their own schedule, and building something that’s theirs.
Career Changers
People leaving FIFO, trades, corporate, or retail roles who want to run their own operation without starting from scratch.
People re-entering the workforce
People between jobs, returning to work after a break, or looking for meaningful work that offers flexibility and control.
People starting later in life
Jim’s Mowing has franchisees who started in their 50s and 60s. The work is physical but manageable, and there is no age barrier to building a strong client base.
Jim’s Mowing is not for everyone.
The work is physical and outdoor. You will be mowing, edging, trimming, and hauling equipment. If you want an office-based business or a completely passive income, this is not it. If you want to work outdoors, control your own schedule, and build a real client base with a proven brand behind you — it’s worth a conversation.

The Franchise Package
No experience in lawn care is required. Jim’s Mowing provides two weeks of structured training before you start:
- Jim’s Mowing brand licence — use of the name, uniform, and signage.
- National advertising — TV, digital, SEO, and Google Ads managed by Jim’s Group.
- Lead generation — calls routed to you from the national 131 546 number.
- Franchisor support — each franchisee has a local franchisor (a senior operator) who provides ongoing coaching and business advice.
- Jim’s Group app and job management system.
- Access to equipment finance options.
- Public liability insurance framework.
- Marketing materials — branded workwear, vehicle signage templates, business cards.
Equipment is your responsibility.
Franchisees supply their own mowers, trimmers, blowers, and safety equipment. Jim’s Mowing offers access to lease-to-buy options that reduce upfront costs. A sign-written vehicle or trailer is also required. Your franchisor will walk you through equipment requirements before you sign.
How the Jim’s Mowing Franchise Model Works
Jim’s Mowing uses a flat fee model, not a commission or percentage-of-revenue model. You pay a fixed weekly fee to your franchisor. Everything you earn above that is yours. The more clients you build, the better your returns per hour worked.
01
New Business
Start with no existing customers. You build your client base from scratch with leads provided by Jim’s Group. Lowest entry price. Suited to people who want to grow at their own pace.
Best for: People new to business ownership who want a clean start.
02
Existing Business
Purchase from a franchisee who is retiring or moving on. You inherit their existing client base and start with immediate, paying work. Price varies based on the value of the business.
Best for: People who want income from day one.
03
Split (Most Popular)
Purchase a portion of an existing franchisee’s territory. The selling franchisee stays within the group and remains available to help you. Strong start with a warm client handover.
Best for: People who want a head start and mentorship from a local operator.
How much does a Jim’s Mowing franchise cost?
Investment varies by purchase option and territory. Your franchisor will walk you through current pricing during your discovery call. Finance options are available through third-party lenders. There is no obligation to proceed after your initial conversation.
The Pay for Work Guarantee
This is one of the most important things to understand about Jim’s Mowing. If Jim’s Group cannot provide you with a sufficient level of paid work in your area, your franchisor is required to compensate you for the shortfall.
This means you are not going it alone in those early months while your client base is building. It is a safety net built into the franchise model — not a marketing promise, a contractual obligation.
• Guaranteed minimum paid work weeks in your territory
• Compensation from your franchisor if the guarantee is not met
• Applies from the start of your franchise — not after a 6-month waiting period
• Every Jim’s Mowing franchise comes with this guarantee as standard

Jim’s Mowing Franchise FAQ
The questions most prospects ask before booking their discovery call. If yours isn’t here, ask it on the call. Your franchisor will give you a straight answer.
Investment & Costs
How much does a Jim’s Mowing franchise cost?
Investment depends on which purchase option you choose and the territory. A new business (no existing customers) starts at a lower price than an existing business or split. Your franchisor will walk you through current pricing on your discovery call. There is no obligation to proceed after that conversation.
What ongoing fees do I pay?
Jim’s Mowing uses a flat fee model. You pay a fixed weekly fee to your franchisor regardless of how much you earn. You do not pay a percentage of revenue. The more you earn above the fee, the better your margin becomes.
What equipment do I need to buy?
You need your own mowers, trimmers, blowers, and safety equipment, plus a sign-written vehicle or trailer. Jim’s Mowing provides access to lease-to-buy options that spread this cost. Your franchisor will give you a full equipment list before you sign.
Is finance available?
Finance options are available through third-party lenders. Jim’s Group does not provide finance directly but can point you toward lenders familiar with the franchise model. Speak to your franchisor about what’s available in your state.
The Business
Do I need experience in lawn care or gardening?
No. Jim’s Mowing provides full training before you start. Many franchisees come from completely unrelated backgrounds. If you can use a mower and a trimmer after two weeks of training, you have the practical skills needed.
How do I get customers?
Jim’s Group runs national advertising including TV, digital, SEO and Google Ads. Leads are routed to you through the 131 546 national number. You also build a local client base through repeat bookings and word of mouth. Most franchisees find demand outpaces their capacity within the first year.
What does a typical work week look like?
You set your own hours. Most franchisees work 4 to 5 days per week in the field and spend a small amount of time on admin. You choose how many jobs you take, how large your client list grows, and whether you eventually take on staff to scale.
Can I grow beyond one franchisee?
Yes. Some Jim’s Mowing operators buy additional territories and build teams. Others prefer to run a solo operation with a strong regular client base. The model supports both approaches.
Support & Guarantee
What is the Pay for Work Guarantee?
If Jim’s Group cannot supply you with enough paid work in your territory, your franchisor is contractually required to compensate you for the shortfall. The exact guarantee level is covered during your franchise application. It applies from the start of your franchise, not after a waiting period.
Who supports me after I launch?
Each franchisee has a local franchisor — a senior Jim’s Mowing operator in your region. They check in regularly, particularly in your first 90 days. You also have access to Jim’s Group’s national support team, training materials, and the broader network of 2,100+ franchisees.
What happens if I want to sell my franchise?
You own the goodwill of your client base. When you decide to exit, you can sell your business within the Jim’s system. Jim’s Group has an active resale market with buyers regularly looking for established businesses. Your franchisor will walk you through the exit process.
Is It Right for Me?
Do I need to be physically fit?
The work is physical. You are outdoors, operating equipment, and on your feet for most of the day. Most franchisees find the physical nature of the work is part of why they enjoy it. If you have concerns about specific physical requirements, raise them on your discovery call.
Can I run a Jim’s Mowing franchise as a couple or with a partner?
Yes. Several Jim’s Mowing franchisees operate as couples or business partners. The franchise agreement covers how this works. It is a common structure, particularly for people who want one person in the field and one managing admin and bookings.
What territories are currently available?
Territories are available across metro and regional Australia. Availability changes as existing franchisees sell or expand. The best way to find out what is available near you is to book a discovery call. Your franchisor will tell you exactly what’s on the market in your area.
