Haydar Hussein Reveals How Jim’s Cleaning is on Track to Become Australia’s Largest Franchise

Haydar Hussein, Divisional Franchisor of Jim’s Cleaning Group, recently shared valuable insights about growth, innovation, and what it takes to build one of the fastest-growing divisions in the Jim’s network.

With over 1,700 franchisees and counting, his vision is clear: within two years, Jim’s Cleaning will become the largest franchise in Australia.

From Banking Job to Building a Jim’s Cleaning Empire

Haydar’s story began in an unlikely place, a bank.

I was working in the bank, and I needed a part-time job,” he recalled.

I thought the easiest thing to do would be to clean the bank where I was working.

When his boss refused him a pay rise, telling him “beggars can’t be choosers,” Haydar decided to take control of his own future.

I thought, I’m not a beggar. I’m just someone trying to make a better life for myself. So I started my own cleaning business,” he said.

That decision set him on a path that would eventually lead to overseeing thousands of franchisees across Australia and New Zealand under Jim’s Group, which now has more than 5,500 franchise owners.

A $21 Billion Industry with Massive Growth Potential

The cleaning industry in Australia is worth $21 billion, and according to Haydar, Jim’s Cleaning only holds about 6% of that.

In the commercial scene, we only have 0.017% of the pie,” he explained.

So there’s a lot of room to grow.

This potential has fueled a 14% annual growth rate, with Jim’s Cleaning handling everything from residential jobs to large commercial contracts across aged care and NDIS facilities.

We’re giving out over $20 million a year in contract work to our franchisees,” Haydar said.

And we pay them within 14 days, even if it takes us 90 days to get paid. That’s how committed we are.

A Franchise Model Built for Success

Unlike many franchises, Jim’s Cleaning doesn’t take a percentage of revenue.

We have a monthly flat fee plus a small charge per lead,” Haydar explained.

That lead fee motivates franchisees to work hard to win the customer, and since introducing it, conversion rates have skyrocketed.

Each franchise also includes a pay-for-work guarantee between $1,200 and $2,500 a week, providing a safety net for new owners.

“It’s simple. If things are quiet, we pay the difference,” Haydar said.

Support is another key factor.

Every franchise has a network of three or four people analyzing your business and helping you grow,” he said.

Some franchisees want to earn a few thousand a week. Others want tens of thousands. We help them plan and strategize to get there.

Specialized Services and Systems That Deliver Results

Haydar attributes much of the division’s success to specialization.

If you’re doing carpet cleaning, you do carpets. If you do windows, you do windows,” he said.

Each area requires specialized equipment and training, so we’ve separated all our services to make sure franchisees can be experts in what they do.

Training, he said, is comprehensive.

It’s a five-day program where new franchisees work on the road with experienced trainers who’ve started just like them,” Haydar said.

You don’t need experience. We teach you everything.

Driven by Passion, People, and Purpose

When asked what drives him, Haydar’s answer was simple. “I’ve got a passion for my business,” he said.

I want everyone who believes in me, franchisees and staff, to succeed. If they’re happy, I’m happy.

He also shared his personal philosophy for success: “Never take anyone for granted. Don’t take shortcuts. Customers know when you’ve cut corners. Exceed their expectations every time.

With thousands of families supported through Jim’s Cleaning, Haydar is proud of what they’ve built.

It’s probably close to 10,000 people we’ve helped over the years,” he said.

We must be doing something right.
