Dan Cahill is the divisional franchisor of Jim’s Mowing, the original and largest division within the Jim’s Group.
As a dedicated Jim’s Mowing franchisor, he works closely with new and existing franchisees to help them grow profitable, flexible businesses they’re proud of.
About Dan Cahill
He didn’t begin his career in business. Like many Australians, he started out working at McDonald’s while supporting a young family and carrying the weight of a large mortgage with little financial breathing room. Reaching a point where something had to change, he decided to take a risk and join Jim’s Mowing.
After borrowing the money to get started, he learned the trade from scratch and committed himself fully—working seven days a week from sunrise to sunset. In his first week he invoiced $3,600, and by the second week he had already learned a lesson that would shape his entire business journey: if you can create demand, you control your business.
Over time, he built a strong client base, refined his pricing, replaced the wrong customers with the right ones, and grew the business into multiple crews generating consistent weekly revenue. Systems, standards, and genuine customer service became the foundation of his success.
His results eventually led to another opportunity when Jim Penman invited him to step up as a franchisor. Today, he serves as the Divisional Franchisor for Jim’s Australia, supporting and coaching franchisors and franchisees across the network.
Drawing on his own experience, he now focuses on helping everyday people build profitable, reliable mowing businesses—guided by the principles that shaped his journey: discipline, demand creation, pricing confidence, and resilience when challenges arise.
Having experienced the shift from financial pressure to financial control himself, he is passionate about helping others create the same opportunity—one business, one family, and one success story at a time.
